Giving to ESM

Our department is committed to excellence in teaching and research. Our programs and degrees continue to be highly respected both nationally and abroad. We provide our students with a sound basis to solve the important technological issues that confront our society today. We also train them to be in the forefront while addressing emerging technologies.

Our efforts to ensure excellence and reach preeminence require resources. Funds from the Commonwealth to Virginia Tech do not cover our yearly budget. Therefore, private giving is vital if we are to maintain, indeed improve, the high quality of our programs. Your giving provides student scholarships; enhances their learning experiences; supports, retains and attracts eminent professors; and helps us to maintain the best classrooms and laboratories. Giving is a critical component for keeping the ESM programs competitive with those in other top institutions.

Our students need your support. It is vital to our success. Gifts can be designated to any area of the university. In your giving, please designate your gift to Engineering Science and Mechanics. You can securely make a pledge, make a payment on an existing pledge, make a gift using your credit card, or request information on donating securities, making a planned gift or using electronic funds transfer from your checking account using the secure online pledge form.

If you are affiliated with a company that matches contributions to higher education, your gift to Virginia Tech may be matched, doubled, or -- in some instances -- more than doubled. Since many employers consider matching gifts an employee benefit, your human resource department or personnel office is your best source for more information about your company's matching gift policies and procedures. Virginia Tech receives over $1 million each year in "free money" due to company matching gifts, thanks to donors like you who request the form from their participating employer and send it to Virginia Tech with their gift.
